I ran into this article today about custom photography. This pretty much sums up the amount of work done for a photoshoot and why the investment can be a little larger than your typical franchise portrait studio. However, even the long hours spent editing, blogging and preparing, I am absolutely in love with what I do. I get to hang out with great people, release my inner creative side and make people smile or even become inspired with my work. And for the client, besides getting mind-blowing photographs, they also get to enjoy the photo shoot experience without feeling rushed and they get a boat load of fully edited, high resolution photos to chose from. Check out this article on why people choose a custom photographer......

Editing the photographs is what truly makes a portrait become a work of art. That's why I classify our pictures as "fine art portraits". I love seeing the ending result of an edited photograph.
Here are two before and after shots of edited pics. Sometimes it takes a little bit of bribing to get the little ones to give a big cheese! See if you can find the goldfish...

and now it disappears...
After....
We also changed the hue of the photo, and filled in the little girls gums where we removed the goldfish. Here's another editing before and after shot. Take a look at the background, the grass, and color difference.
Before...
So we removed the house, shed and red car roof from behind the trees, added vignetting, warmed the overall picture, changed the color in the umbrella to match Jen, and also brightened and filled in the grass.
After...

1 is fun!!! Massachusetts one year old baby portrait photographer.
Ria MacKenzie Photography has been doing a ton of one year old photo sessions this year! If anyone out there knows any soon-to-be one year olds (besides my son), then please have them contact us!
Here's another little cutie who actually turns one today!!! This boy was a climber, walker and a big smiler too! We even got to sneek a few shots of his big bro, who was tattooed up from his party and pretended to be camera shy for a bit. I got a kick out it! Thanks for a great session Thielkers! Enjoy the preview.

Happy First Birthday!!!! Massachusetts one year old baby, family portrait photographer.
Little man turns one today and I've been holding off blogging this to surprise his mommy. She's been counting down the days and is probably teary-eyed as we speak! The session went by fast with the help of big cousin and the fact that the whole family was in high spirits! We walked back and forth from their house to their grandmothers next door to take all these. These are all so sweet and I can't wait to celebrate this little guy's birthday bash this weekend!!!

Newborn portraits-full session. Welcome Baby Lemaire! Massachusetts newborn photographer.
What fun it is to spend time with newborn babies!!!!! She just too precious! I can't wait to watch this little girl grow up! Her mom and I spend a lot of time trying to bundle her up and put her to sleep for the shoot. At 2 weeks old, she was fighting to stay up! Every time we put her down she would wake up knowing she wasn't in mommy's arms. She just loooves to be held! We all hung out and waited about an hour or so before she practically ate herself to sleep. Hungry little one! The wait was well worth it though! Take a look!

Newborn mini session. Massachusetts newborn photographer.
I couldn't help but take a few shots of my friends newborn the other day. This is when she was just eight days old. She was surprisingly wide awake during my whole visit. Her full photo session is tomorrow and I'm hoping to create some "wow" photos and be able to pose a sleeping baby. For now, you can awe at these....
